Family Voices, the Center for Parent Information and Resources @ SPAN, and the Regional Parent TA Centers are hosting a national family leadership conference, Moving Forward: Embracing Change and Transformation.
The conference will bring together a diverse community of family and youth leaders, representatives from Parent Centers, Family-to-Family Health Information Centers, Family Voices Affiliate Organizations, and other professional partners and stakeholders from across the country.
Together we will learn from each other, share resources and expertise, explore ways to improve supports to families, learn new strategies for managing nonprofits, and increase capacity for families to partner in health and educational systems change.

Call for Proposals (Closed)
DUE DATE: 4/22/22
We are seeking proposals for workshops that will build capacity for attendees to reach and serve diverse families, youth, and professionals to improve systems that serve families and operate an effective family-serving organization.
Workshop sessions will be 90 minutes, with 75 minutes for presentation and 15 minutes for questions and discussion. Proposals should include a family or youth partner as a co-presenter.
In acknowledgment of the time difference across the states and territories, while we require one presenter to be present in person, components of the session may be recorded in advance if all presenters cannot attend in person.
We are particularly seeking workshop proposals that address:
- health equity/racial justice
- impact of COVID-19 on children and youth with special educational and/or health care needs and their families
- partnership building
- language access
- mental health
- extensions of hybrid services/supporting telehealth accessibility
- family and youth engagement at all levels in all systems
- organizational development (including grant writing, database tools, data analysis, evaluation, etc.)
- transitions (health and educational)
- impacting policy
Health and Safety Protocols
The conference planning committee values the safety and well-being of attendees. Our networks are dedicated to supporting families and children at the greatest risk and we strongly encourage everyone to wear a mask to help make this event as safe as possible for everyone. The following guidelines will be in place at the venue:
- All current CDC and local District of Columbia municipal guidelines for the general population that are in place at the time of the conference will be strictly followed.
- Though social distancing at the conference will not be possible, we will have tables in each session room that are designed as “Mask Required Tables” for participants who feel more comfortable knowing that those immediately around them will be wearing a mask.
- The hotel will have expanded cleaning protocols.
The COVID-19 pandemic remains fluid and unpredictable, and CDC and local municipal guidelines are subject to change. We will communicate any updates to the above health and safety protocol as the conference dates approach.
