IDEA dispute resolution options offer opportunities for families and school districts to address special education related disagreements. Unfortunately, predominately Black and/or Spanish-speaking districts, and those in lower income areas, have significantly less dispute resolution activity compared to districts with fewer minority students and higher incomes. In this session we will address the reasons behind these discrepancies, gain insights into the States’ operations, and explore strategies for making voices heard to encourage meaningful institutional change.
